Biography
Mr. Johny Gramajo is an economist with over 35 years of experience at the Bank of Guatemala. He currently serves as Chief Economist, a position he has held since March 2017. He is also a Permanent Advisor to the Monetary Board, Chair of the Bank’s Technical Economic Council, and a member of the Monetary Policy Execution Committee. Mr. Gramajo holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, United States; a Master’s degree in Finance from Rafael Landivar University, Guatemala; and a Postgraduate Degree in Advanced Macroeconomics and Microeconomics from The Economics Institute, United States. He earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of San Carlos de Guatemala. From July 2009 to September 2011, he took a leave of absence from the Bank of Guatemala to serve as Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C., representing Central America, Spain, Mexico, and Venezuela.
