Tomislav Ćorić was born on 17 November 1979 in Metković. He graduated in 2003 from the Zagreb Faculty of Economics, where he obtained his Master's Degree in 2007 and his PhD in economics in 2011. He continued his education at the University of Greenwich, United Kingdom, in the area of monetary policy. From 2016 to 2017 he held the post of Minister of Labour and Pension System in the Government of the Republic of Croatia, from 2017 to 2020 he served as Minister of Environmental Protection and Energy, while from 2020 to 2022 he was Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development. Prior to his ministerial positions, he worked as assistant professor at the Zagreb Faculty of Economics. He is the author and co-author of numerous scholarly papers and various book chapters in the area of economics. He received the "Mijo Mirković" Award for his research paper "The Research of Credit Channel in the Republic of Croatia". Pursuant to the decision of the Croatian Parliament of 27 May 2022, Tomislav Ćorić was appointed Vicegovernor of the Croatian National Bank. Vicegovernor Ćorić coordinates and manages the Prudential Regulation and Methodology Area, the Prudential Supervision Area, the Expert Supervision and Oversight Area, the Office for Coordination of Prudential Supervision, Oversight and Risk Management Activities and the Office for the Supervision of Entities in Non-Performing Loan Sales. As of June 2022, Vicegovernor Tomislav Ćorić is a member of the ECB's Supervisory Board and a member of the Board of Supervisors of the European Banking Authority.
