Biography

Susana is the Deputy Director of the International Department of Banco de Guatemala since September 2023. In this capacity, she oversees the execution of foreign exchange operations on behalf of the central government and the rest of the public sector. She also supports the supervision of investment activities in accordance with the guidelines established by the Monetary Board. Previously, she was Head of the International Monetary Reserves Risk Analysis Department from February 2000 to August 2023. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Vanderbilt University, a Master’s degree in Economics and Quantitative Finance from Universidad Rafael Landívar de Guatemala and a Master’s degree in Financial Administration from Universidad Mariano Gálvez de Guatemala. Susana is CFA charterholder and holds the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM). She also holds FRM certification from Global Association of Risk Professionals.
