- Biography
- José Luiz has more than 25 years of experience in strategic allocation and risk management. Public servant of the Central Bank of Brazil since 1998. Civil Engineer from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1998), Master in Business Administration from the Universidade de Brasília (2002) and PhD in Business Administration and Quantitative Methods - Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2007) . He holds FRM (Financial Risk Manager) and RAI (Risk and Artificial Inteligence) certifications from GARP-Global Association of Risk Professionals. After serving as Director General of Risk at New Development Bank in Shanghai (2019 to 2022), he is currently the Head of the Corporate Risk Department at the Central Bank of Brazil. He is also short-term consultant from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Voluntary professor of finance at Universidade de Brasília since 2022, he also worked at Universidade Católica de Brasília for more than 10 years. His line of research is related to strategic asset allocation, portfolio optimization, risk management and behavioral finance. He has several papers published in internationally recognized journals, such as: Journal of Banking and Finance, Applied Financial Economics, European Journal of Finance, International Journal of Finance and Economics and Journal of Risk Management in Financial Institutions.
