Biography
Diego is an economist interested in monetary policy and financial markets. He graduated as Economist at the National University of Asunción (2010). He later obtained a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Illinois-Chicago (2014) as a Fulbright scholar and completed his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Virginia (2020). Since joining the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) in 2011 as an economic analyst in the Economic Studies Department, he has taken on increasing responsibilities. He currently serves as Deputy General Manager of Financial Operations, overseeing key functions such as payment systems, treasury management, open market operations for monetary policy implementation, government bonds depository, foreign exchange operations, and international reserve management. Beyond his role at the BCP, Diego is also a researcher and university professor, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in economics.
